Not allowed on the streets, no cars on the roads, no motorbikes, no aeroplanes, no nothing.
It is almost as usual within the boundaries of your hotel.
Often lightening is restricted, often no a-la-catre ordering from the restaurant at your hotel, ie buffet meals, set price.
Its quieter.
Pool activities as per usual.
Its a wonderful day to be in Bali.
Time to genuinely relax.
(Also time to take restock of your shopping, get your dvds in alphabetical order, read etc)
Nyepi eve is a fun time to watch the Ogah-ogah parades, an hour or so after sunset.
Bali shuts down prior to sunrise of Nyepi day, but many locals return to their villages during the day of Nyepi eve. Bali reopens at sunrise on the day after Nyepi.
