you go past Makro then do a U turn. Take the first main road left. When you get to the end where you have to pay the Banjar fee u can turn right towards the village which leads you to the turtle conservation. They only have turtles there and do a breeding program. It is free but always nice to make a donation to keep them going.
If you go straight ahead after paying you are on a sand rock road. Following that track takes you past some local night bars and then you get to a security gate where the driver has to hand in their ID and you are given a Serangang pass. Keep following the road and it brings you to the waters edge. There are heaps of Warungs down there, we like Sarinas which is on the end. You get the massage girls and sellers (jewellery and crochet items) but heaps cheaper then Kuta areas. It is a popular area with surfers when the surf is good and on a sunday afternoon it is packed with the Balinese and their families.
If you follow the water edge to the left of Sarinas you get to the point where you can see the pools they keep the dolphins in for the Dolphin thingy. If you follow the waters edge to the right from Serenas you will find the Main Temple and the sea weed huts and can see the area where the Bounty cruises come in.
Some days out there they have pigeon races. It is a great place to learn to drive or ride a bike. U just have to watch out for the massive pot holes and the other Balinese learner drivers.
I go out there at least 4 times each trip. I find it really peaceful watching the waves roll in.
Okay changed my mind...... it is yucky and you should never go there.....LOL Don't want it to become the next Kuta.....
Just my thoughts
