very close friend of ours was surfing at G Land and hit the reef face first, his whole scalp was hanging of his head. There was a japanese orthodontist staying at the camp and he put in temporary stiches for the flight over to bali. Helicopter arrived and off to Bali. He was admitted to the Shangla Hospital into the Plastic surgery and burns unit. Operated on by a Plastic Surgeon who had trained in Singapore. Absolutly fantastic care, very little scarring. Cost was $5000 for the helicopter and $6000 for hospital. All reimbursed by Travel insaurance and the insaurance also paid for another operation when he returned to Australia. It was a good job but our friend thought it could be improved a little.
