Light Spirit Centre, Ubud
I planned to give this a try this year, not been able to fit it in on previous visits. The centre is currently closed on Sundays.
I chose the Tibetan Sound Massage and sound bath, 90 minute session.
Brass like bowls, singing bowls were placed on my body and gently struck by a donger. I experienced deep relaxation and listened to the 3 bongs then rest, then 3 bongs again, rest etc. Later a second therapist struck singing bowls from around the room but it was time for the sub conscious to take control. I relaxed fully and nodded off. At one stage I felt nauseas, did my blood pressure drop, but it quickly passed. I went sound asleep but unfortunately had a revolting dream so woke up feeling terribly agitated. The 90 minute session cost 175000rp.
I think my body has had good healing and my chakras all enhanced, raring to go.
Leaving Ubud
We left Tegal Sari and headed south past the Bali Bird park, then mucked up in Sanur and went via Denpasar rather than the bypass road. We came in Legian past Bali stone and stopped at Bintang Supermarket. We bought a few more baby clothes, nappies etc for the new Mums to be, love the zip lock plastic bags for storing the cords, plugs and cables.
We had bought a box of large Aqua at Carrefours early on our holiday and found our water supplies still doing ok. How come we also bought a box of large Bintang and that supply was replenished many times over?
Bintang SM didn't have any stock of Wine of the Gods Shiraz, nor Two Islands. That was disappointing.
Back In Legian.
Our last 3 days in Legian were wonderful. Back home in our village!
We went shopping at Matahari (parking is 2000rp for first hour), SuperNova, Bintang Supermarket.
Do you see the stickers for sale around town and think to yourself would anyone really ever buy stickers like that? Most of the statements are terribly rude, but then I am probably proudly showing my age.
I asked if they had ‘Don't worry be happy' and I was fortunate that they did a print run especially. I ended up buying 7 of them to give away.
ATM at the Permata Bank in Rum Jungle Rd will dispense up to 3,000,000rp, if you select other, its still a 3m limit. I believe you can go inside the Bank, wait for your number to be called and withdraw higher amounts, I haven't tried, but I do believe you need your passport for ID.
Exchange rate hovered between 8200 to 8400 to the AUD.
There are lots more Commonwealth bank and atms appearing around Bali. There is a new branch at the corner of Jl Melasti and Jl Legian, Legian.
I walked into the printers off Jl Padma, in lane around Rama Garden and asked for quote for With Comps cards. They seemed too expensive so Nengah at Legian Cyber Café charged 150,000rp for 250 in lovely grained paper. I am pleased with the work.
You know the Kodak shop on Jl Padma, a couple of doors down from Jl Sahadewa, well, its no longer. No photo developing either. Its now a bright new Mini Mart, with similar shop opposite and another on the Jl Sahadewa corner (overkill?)
Poppies restaurant
We were invited to go to Poppies one night, haven't been there for 5 years. It also hasn't changed and remains a lovely settings with good meals and service. Bill came to almost 1.2m for 5 of us.
When we arrived back at Suriwathi we heard a beeping sound alongside one of the rooms. Told reception and Wayan came down to check it out and inserted/swiped a credit card sized card. He said electricity needed more credits. Hadn't heard of that before. Beeping stopped. I dunno!
We arrived at the airport around 2 hours prior to our flight home and the queues were long and slow. Eventually got the checkin and found to our shock horror, that we had 55kg, 15kg more than our allotted luggage allowance. Oh no, no money. Credit cards full (or so the story went) what can we do. Over to the Excess counter, please hel-ep us. Over to the Garuda office, have au$50 in Australian coin Mam. (I had just swapped the collection of $2, $1, 50c coins with a porter for a $50 note), ok, so the kind lady reduced our excess to pay for 5 kg. I felt it was worth the effort. Paid au$60 for the 5kg xs at US$8.50 per kg, or au$12. We struggled on board with our hand luggage and had a safe flight home.
Melbourne airport only seemed to have our flight land, so we moved through duty free easily, through passport control and waited for our luggage.
