Now IMHO this is a bit of a find. It's exactly opposite Hotel Kumala (not Kumala Pantai) on Jln. Werkudara and is a small affair of maybe 4 or 5 tables. It is Indonesian food with a Kalimantan influence since that is where Ibu Sri comes from.
Now if you want fast food, this is not your place and if you are going to be put out that all the choices on the menu are not available it is also not for you. We found it best to order from the blackboard "today's specials" unless wanting something that is always available like nasi goreng or mie goreng.
When you order everything is cooked from scratch and if she has run out of anything then it is not available so it's either fresh or unavailable. The thing about this place is that Sri is just one of those talented cooks you meet now and then and her food is just so good. Even her mie goreng was the best I ever had. Her Borneo Fish was just amazing; slices of fish with subtle lemon garlic and ginger flavours with rice and green beans. We had some chillies with it.
So pull up a chair order one of her cold (really!) beers and pass a little while waiting for a masterpiece to emerge from the kitchen. I didn't do it but I'm pretty sure she would be happy if you BYO wine but you might need your own wine glass. The passing parade never ceases to interest me; a couple of Bakso men, a peanut seller, the ice man, the Bintang man friends from the beach flying by on Motorbikes waving hi although between the helmet and the big jacket it's hard to know exactly which friend it is?
She plays really cool bluesy music and there is a nice breeze. It's just such a cool place.
