as for the money because you were scared you still did the right thing.
I want to know, was it a bluebird taxi? or one of the others, as I find if I'm not in a bluebird taxi the other taxi companies can be a little agressive.
As all others said tourist police would of come in handy and you have learned a valuable lesson here on the the forum and now have the number, this of course still doesn't excuse the taxi driver.
I have been in your situation and let me tell you, we did exactly what you did and got out of the taxi, it was my sister and I at the time, but all he was doing was trying to get more money out of us by driving around and around.
Most taxi drivers think we don't know our way round and sometimes this is the case, but in your circumstances your instinct was telling you something was wrong, well done for getting out as he saw you stood your ground.
Although my husband and I had a motorbike there was occassions that my daughter needed to get in a taxi while we were there and I have to tell you there was no way I would let her get in any taxi on her own, I went with her. My daughter thought I was over protective being she had just been to Amercia and I said I don't care how old you are I'm coming with you this is Bali, she huffed a bit at me.
You were lucky there was two of you.
I read once not so long ago how a girl was raped by six people and all she did was gab a cab in Bali, this is something I will never forget.
I am so sorry you had to go though this experience and I hope this experiece has not scared you that you wouldn't get into another taxi.
In future before getting into a taxi have a mobile phone with you, phone tourist police take a picture if you have can, or else fails give the prick a hard knock on the head and then don't pay the driver, get out of taxi and call for help.
He's just lucky he didn't get me in that taxi, because I would of smashed the s**t out of him, because if I ask a taxi driver to stop that is what I expect him to do, you are the paying client.
