In most cases your morning coffee or tea is also made from water straight out of the tap.
For that matter the plates that you eat off are mostly washed in tap water, as are the utensils you eat with.
This "suburban myth" about tap water is an outdated worry. In previous years many places operated from bore water. The bore was often placed out of the way beside a fence. On the other side of the fence could be found the neighbors septic tanks. Of course the water would be polluted.
The scheme water that we can now have access is quite good.
On a different tangent the power supply here would probably not have the wattage to run a dish washer. I cleverly got a mate to bring me up an electric wok. This needs 2,200 watts to operate. It is only good as a gold fish aquarium.
