I Have just completed sydney denpasar via Jkt. In syd, bags checked thru to denpasar. You receive both boarding passes syd/jkt, and jkt to dps. You arrive Jkt internat airport. Pay your voa, clear immigration and then go upstairs and follow signs to domestic departure gate still in the same terminal. Jkt terminal 2 is not that big. 3 hours is plenty of time. It has shops and restaurants but on a small scale.

When you arrive in Dps, it will be the international terminal but you will bypass all the usual channels and collect your bags at the usual carousels and then you head straight out. Welcome to Bali !

When leaving denpasar, you depart from the domestic terminal.I checked in 2 hrs prior (mainly for peace of mind) Bags are checked thru to sydney, but you will only be given seating dps to Jkt. You will have to pay 40,000 fiscal tax at denpasar for the domestic flight . when in Jakarta you will need to obtain your boarding pass for flight Jkt to Syd and then pay your international departure tax of 150,000.

There will be plenty of others doing the same journey as you so there is no need to stress. Garuda"s new planes were excellent. Goodluck !
