is ask someone what they paid for the same thing you want (or ask several people), check out some of the fixed price shops and just normal stalls and ask price only. I usually dont buy anything for the first day or so while I get back into the price range. Scan other peoples JGB reports and shopping guides to get you in the zone. Then once you know the price you want start bartering otherwise it is so easy to pay too much when you arent really sure. Then when I was going back to the fixed price shops I noticed that their prices were often slightly higher than what you can barter for in the street. So I either pay the extra to avoid the mucking around or enjoy the bartering in the markets.I also find it heaps easier to pay a good price when you already own one!! So if you want more of something - wear it and they will be often say "I give you one same price"
