Hi where are you staying? Seminyak area is usually ok. I have been 4 times during this period and last year I moved out of Legian and stayed in Seminyak during Idul Fitri and then back to Legian again when it was over. You should be fine, especially if you don't take any trips into Kuta or Tuban area, as yes, it is beyond a joke there and you will just sit in the traffic. It is just too busy a time to do any of the "things to see and do activities". Head north Seminyak, Petitenget and even Canguu area it it is all fine for restaurants, shopping, etc. I will be there again this year during this time, no accomadation booked yet, but usually find something. Matter of commonsense I think, just chilling, beaching, relaxing in area you are staying at, till they all go home again. Yes, you can certainly find lots of food places in Legian and Seminyak area to eat at that aren't crowded. But eating in Kuta and Tuban, really is too crowded. Have fun. ps. sometimes the dollar value goes down as well at this time, so if you find a good rate before it starts i tend to change more money then, or well after when rate goes up again. Admittedly it is not the most ideal time b/c of "busyness" - but great weather, and still a Bali holiday!!
