Hello fellow forumittes!! Well this a JBR of the most special Bali trip of my life. This is very very late....it happened in December..OOPS!! Well. Where to start. My Lovely partner and myself left perth for Bali on December 11th 2008. This was my 11th time and The Mrs's 5th time. The holiday was both a comedy of mishaps, and lots of laughs. Well to start it all off we thought we would spend abit of dosh and stay at a nice 4and ahalf star boutique hotel...just to make it that much more special...unfortunately for us....the choice in hotel was wrong. Now. in order to protect the identity of this hotel i will call it by it first letters of the name...those in the no will know who im talking about. Well we arrived at the AKK, and as we pull up...to our horror a monstrosity of a new massive hotel is being built next door....it was HUGE....and it was overshadowing our hotel...literally. One of the worst things about this....the workmen working on the hotel did nothing but perve on the lovely white girls in bikinis around our pool..the whole time they did nothing but perve...stare and wolfwhistle, and yell comments. This not only made my girl and other girls uncomfortable....but it pissed me and the other guys off to no end!...we asked the hotel if they could do anything about it.....they said they couldn't.
Well we got into our room...and all we could hear was banging and sawing... and more banging...our hotel decided to renovate the pool outside our room, and build some villas..unfortunaely for us...the building went from 6.30 in the morning till as late as 8 at night....constant noise..we couldnt even go out to our balcony....so we asked to be moved to another room because we didn't pay to be woken up first thing in the morning and to not be able to use our balcony...they said yeah sure.....for another $100us a night....WHAT!!!!!!..so i kicked and screamed...but they wouldnt budge...not happy! anyways.....so the first night we would head over to trusty Indonational for a very trusty tried and tested yummy meal and cold Bintang...ahhhhhh this was yumo!!...i had been dream about my Nasi Goring and cold bintang for soooo long....and this hit the spot.
So we had our lovely dinner and strolled back to the hotel enjoying the warmth of the night...I just love the smell of Bali...the incense mixed with the salt of the ocean...god i love it!
Well went went to sleep, and woke up early to the sound of construction outside our room.....and My poor gilr was literally covered in huge bites...EVERYWHERE!!!!...oh damn.....well we put it down to Mozzy's...stupid of us....and headed out to do some shopping down at poppies lane.
After a day of shoopping we thought we would eat at Ol' Puppas...the restaurant out the front of the hotel (no everyones going to know the hotel)..and we loved it!! the staff where amazing...and the food....soooo good!! i had a Volcano Pizza and enjoyed a cold glass of vino..the band there are Great!!..they all dress up in chefs, and they take requests...it was a magical romantic night..so we headed off to bed early....then woke up around 3 in the morning...My poor girl turned the bedside light on...and she had 6 huge bedbugs on her...and her bites.doubled in quantity...and and in size....WHAT THE!!!!! not happy Jan!!!!!!...so i rang reception straight away......no answer (it was late)...we didnt sleep that night cause we didnt want to touch the bed!...i looked under the bed, and they were everywhere!
so we rang reception in the morning and they changed the bed...because we hadn't slept since 3 in the morning..we wanted to sleep....but couldnt....the construction was going into overdrive!!!so tired and grumpy...we went to the pool and slept under the umbrella.
That night i planned something very special!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I promised my girl we would dine at our fav restaurants on this trip...so i told her..."baby i have booked LaLuciola"..we love this restaurant....so we took a cab over to to Seminyak, arrived at the restaraunt..and sat down in the Bar with a cocktail. The weather was perfect...so i took her onto the lawn as the sun was going down.....got down on one knee....and asked her..."Kymmy....will you Marry Me??"....she was so excited....started crying...she just started nodding and crying...he he he ..i was like...so yes?? YEs you idiot!!! heheheh
so we spent our first night as an engaed couple having the most perfect meal at the most perfect restaurant watching the most perfect sunset....this is a sign for our ife to come!!!
The whole night she just couldn't keep her eyes off the ring and shining diamonds sitting on her finger..."how the hell did you keep this from me?" she kept asking...how did you hide the ring and get it through the airport ect....i just said..im very very sneeky...
The next day was my birthday...so Kymmy said i had a day of surprises..we woke up, and she took me to Waterbom Park...i love this place!!!...so we did all the rides, drank some cocktails and came home...then she told me we were going to my fave resteraunt and bar of all time for dinner...Ku De Ta...Now..i love Ku De TA...this place is a must do everytime we come to bali...i have been very fortunate to travel to some very amazing places in my life...and lived in New York for 2 yrs...but this place stilll remains the No 1 place anywhere in the world for me.
So we got there, she had a longe reserved for just us two on the roof...and she ordered a bottle of Moet for us to have as watched the most amazing sunset ever.....the sky was soooo deep red!!
We then went downstairs to the restaraunt and had the best steak i have ever eaten. After dinner....i heard this "Happy Birthday to you!!" all the staff came to my table and started singing happybirthday to me, and presented me with this amazing HUGE piece of chocolate cake with gold flakes and "happy birhtday Kurt" written on the plate in chocolate....jeeze i am spoilt!! what a night...what a holiday!!
Well the rest of the holiday was spent shopping...i got some new reading glasses, and hit the huge surfwear specials...go so many clothes. I had some amazing surf off Kuta Reef, and Uluwatu was even breaking a few times, so i was lucky there too. We headed off to Bali Sufari Park which was great!!....the marine park wasnt opened yet, but from all accounts that should be good as well. Poor Kymmy also got a bout of Bali Belly for a few days as well.....she couldnt win the poor thing, between bites and bali belly...but that only last 2 days.
When we arrived back in perth we were greeted by both our families to congratulate us on our engagement, and we had a small little party that night...awesome way to end the holiday!!
The next trip is in Feb next year with my parents and my sister and her hubby to celebrate my mums 55th birthday...We are getting a 3 bedroom villa at th DUSUN villas in seminyak...we cant wait! havnt had a family holiday in years...we are even having a "surprise party" for mum at KuDeTa hehehe....complements of dad. For those who wants an amazing Villa in Seminyak...Dusun Villas are very very special...we have stayed there a few times in a one bedroom villa...and dont know why we ever lthought to give another place a go.
So there you go guys....sorry about the length of it!! but i have been meaning to write it for ages.Apart from the hotel...the holiday was amazing...and Feb cant come quick enough. any questions dont hesitate to ask!!
