If financially stable you would find it possible to exist on $500/week after you have paid your rent. There are many hidden costs like garbage removal, local security, donations towards ceremonies to mention a few. This may not add up to a great amount but it all counts & should be taken into account. Also if renting it is necessary to have a clause in the contract stating the owner is responsible for structural faults if they occur,(leaking roof, cracks in walls, drainage etc,)
Forget the business idea until you have more experience with the way Bali actually works. If you decide to do the business thing treat it as a hobby.
There has been some very good advice posted already which can be digested to help you with your dream. Those with the experience are willing to assist, please take note. Also those helpers have more than likely been ripped off one way or another & don't like seeing it happen to others. You will get 'burnt' but that is the way it goes.
Don't rush into anything.Maybe plan to move to Bali in 3 years, that will give you time to learn some more of the better ways to achieve your goal.
