Think you might be thinking of Mt Bromo......Borobudur in a huge Budhist temple just out of Jogyakarta,and an awesome place!
Not sure about doing Borobudur as a day trip. My wife and I went there from Bali 10 years ago. Did the overnight bus trip to Jogya,then taxi to Borobudur,spent the day there,then by bemo to Silo,climed Mt Merapi that night,bus the next day to Solo then the overnight bus back to Bali (Gilimanuk) followed by public bus to Lovina. Totally exhausted,and vowed NEVER to do another overnight bus trip again!!! I still rate Borobudur as one of the greatest places I have ever visited!
