to be in padang bai. the food upstairs at the kembar inn is very good and the view great, by the way. tirta gangga is also a great place to situate yourself, so that u can get up early for a walk and watch the locals go about their business. just choose adirection and head off on the paths and through the ricefields, noone minds so long as u aren't damaging their lielihood. i like the water palace as a place to meet indonesians on holidays, sit down and chat to them, they'll be shy, but interested. amplapura has 2 interesting palaces, one of which is unrenovated. i've left my email open
