I know just how bad it can be with bed bugs!
We had bed bugs in Bali in Feb,my wife was covered in big red blotches all over her body and could not go to work for a week after our return.
The bed bugs didn't affect me but i did notice small bites like mozzie bites.
We stripped the bed one morning and actually see them after they had had a good old feed, not a pretty sight!
Only some are allergic and get the big welts but it can spoil a holiday.
In July we were taking no chances,we took all kinds of disinfectant and cleaning products,we even took plastic mattress protectors for the first night just in case!
We were lucky this time,no Bed bugs but we still stripped the bed down to the base and had a good search and spray.
That smell you get with bed bugs is very distinctive and sure you would recognize it again if a room had them.
My wife had to have antihistamines and an antihistamine cream called Antroquoril for almost 2 weeks.
Did you notice just up from the Kuta steak house in July, I think it was the LA inn, they had their beds out in the daytime so the sun would kill the bed bugs.
Any hotel room can get bed bugs and was told they were usually brought in by people traveling from Lombok and north Bali.
I think part of the problem is the rooms are cleaned too quickly but staff would definitely recognize the signs with small blood stains on sheets, urine type smell and small black marks on mattress and ignore it?
If I see the presence of Bedbugs I would not stay in that room, the only way to kill them is to have the room fumigated and left empty for 24 hours, this is what happened at the SGI after our encounter.
If you do a search on Bed bugs you will find that they get into your luggage and cases, this is the main way they spread.
We threw out our luggage last time just in case.
Nice read anyway.
