those from WA :o) I really do love the North of my home state, I wish I could holiday there more often. It is 1200km from where I live in Perth though & return airfares from here are over $500, so when you add hire car & accomm costs it is quite a costly "local" holiday. You would probably find an entire week in Exmouth too long but there are plenty of other places to visit in the vicinity.
You could arrange a tour to Karijini (National Park), very beautiful place, remote, gorges, swimming holes etc. Not a place you could visit without a tour group though - you need 4WD, own water, camping gear etc. Not sure that I would recommend staying in Exmouth itself, although this is what I've always done. Exmouth is on the tip of a peninsula & it is the other side of the peninsula where the best beaches, snorkelling sites etc are. There is a caravan park (also has cabins) www DOT ningaloolighthouse DOT com/ and there is an eco lodge (canvas tents, real beds) but it is not built up so very few accomm options except these 2 that I know of.
**SIGH** you lucky SOB :o)
