Returned to Bali after 30 Years. Totally spun out by the growth. Kuta and legian had about 2 kms of palm trees between them back then.
The beaches are really dirty and i was surprised by the rubbish.The discovery building on the beach at Kuta is such an eyesore.I could go on but my daughter would be embarrassed
Paradise lost.
Stayed at Three Brothers Bungalows.Just behind the Padma.
Room prices vary to size and a/c etc. Wife and daughter at first were not impressed by the rooms(which could do with some money being spent on a small amount of upgrading)Some rooms not to flash at all! Gardens and pool area are beautiful and quiet. A few tiles need to be replaced here and there but still pleasant.Some hawkers in the grounds which after a week started giving me the s***s. After viewing other places in the area the girls would be more than happy to return to 3 brothers. You must have a nice room, but for the prices great value.
Did the bintang bike ride which was the highlight of the trip.
Did a few road trips with a driver 350-400k per day which was great.
7th day of our 2 and 1/2 week trip i broke my foot surfing. Surf club ambulance to the BIMC hospital. Ambulance is a story in it self but the hospital was as good if not better than Australian ones. Very professional.
So my trip pretty well came to a holt after that. I put some blame on Jetstar for this accident as the length of surfboard regulation changed from the time we booked to when we flew and i was not able to take my own boards and was surfing a board that was way to short for me (50 years young)No jetstar again.
So while i bunked up for a few days the girls went balistic shopping!!!! They can't wait to return.
Being on crutches in Bali started to test my patients.
All the restaurants we visited in the Padma area recommended here were all good. Best nasi for lunch was next to Sammy's bar just to the left of the Mandera on the beach.
The girls are busting to go back after being a bit tentative at first.
