I personally think that the Dynasty is probably the most kid friendly hotel in Bali. The Padma is Kid friendly too but very expensive.

My friends just booked the hard rock through air asia and got a really good price - from memory it was around $116 AUD for a superior room with 2 double sized beds.

A lot of people like the Melasti Beach Resort but I had a look there in April and I thought it was very run down. Also had a look at the Jayakarta - there didn't appear to be many kids around (well not as many as the Dynasty) The rooms were not as nice as the Dynasty but they were fine. The pool bar prices were around the same price as the Dynasty.

The Patra is also kid Friendly and the rooms are lovely (but a long way from the pool), I found the price of food and drinks very expensive and I felt it was a tad too far away.

The bali Garden hotel also has family rooms and a fantastic pool area - prices for food and drinks very good. The rooms do need a revamp but they are not awful.

The breezes resort in Seminyak are trying to aim for the family market but as it used to be the contiki resort I'm not sure if they are still attracting young singles.

As for the distance to kuta from legian/Seminyak. It really depends on where you want to go and what the traffic is like. Usually from the Dynasty to Seminyak say Laksmana (going sunset road way) it takes around 25-30mins. In Saying that in December it took us an hour to get from the airport to Kuta Beach Road the traffic was that bad.
