Hi when i went last year I had two syringes and medication in my bag was never searched at melbourne ( although i did in end)) or bali coming or going from both.
I thought it was kind of bazzarre. When leaving melbourne i went through xray scanner and the like and thought yeah finally once i have been through without getting stopped for drug or explosive swab testing. Seems to happen every time at domestic or international australia and overseas ( dotn think i look like a bad person). In melbourne finally got asked when i went back to help my daughter re pack her lap top bag, when the lady said can you step aside my daughter giggled as she knows i always get stopped. Before the lady even started to search my backpack i said i had syringes in there and thought it was a little amuzing as it wasnt picked up on xray machine. Well did i see her bristle a little then and ask which machine i went through ect..... I then had to show her all my documentation and letters etc... and pull out and show syringes.
So yeah maybe just take that extra few minutes at doc before you leave and get letters etc... to support your medications that you may need.
Didnt have any issues at any in bali again I found it strange. thought the needles woudl show up in xrays.
