The tip money can be a wonderful bonus to the staff.
Balinese wages can be very basic/low.
I must admit, if service charge has already been added to the bill, I dont bother to tip either, just round it up.
(I am an Aussie and we are not noted as generous tippers)
I dont bother with a % tip, I just add a 'dollars worth or two', eg extra 10,000 or 20,000rp.
(If a hotel worker earns about 250,000rp per week, (I may be wrong, but that is what I have been told, they earn about au$120 a month = about a million Rp) then a waiter/waitress could double their take home earnings easily.)
