I have been in Bali twice during Galungan. The first time in Ubud and the second in Sanur. If you stay in Sanur or Kutu you won't see much and not much changes. Most people try to go home to their villages for the big day and the day after. In Ubud and regional villages the people make fantasic decorations, including penjors(?) which are long decorated bamboo poles that line the streets. All the temples have ceremonies in the mornings. The temple in the Ubud monkey forest is a great place to see the comings and goings. Just remember to show respect if you enter the temple and cover up. It's well worth it.
