I find Ubud markets has very different stuff from down on the tourist strip. I definitely wouldn't bother going there other than in the early morning before the tourist buses arrive. The morning prices are good. In the arvo they just do not care - made their money for the day I guess.
Over the years we have found some lovely things there that we just could not find down on the coast. The place is huge with so many shops.
But the best shopping in Ubud is along Jls Hanoman, Monkey Forest Rd & the road that joins them.
