We were in Bali in April and had the "recommended" beach massage. We didn't enjoy it at all. We paid $3.50AUS for a half hour massage which was actually only about 17 minutes. The whole time we had hawkers trying to sell us stuff so it was impossible to relax. My son, who is 18, bought a statue off a hawker just so he would go away, big mistake, within seconds three more hawkers plus the original started pestering him. Then another lady started rubbing his feet and when his massage was finished she insisted he pay her the $3.50 as well!! He did just to shut them up so he could get out of there. The next day we went to a spa and paid about $5AUS to have a half hour massage and it was total bliss.
