This post is a tad boring as the only reason we are back in Lovina again is that i had miraculously scored accommodation at a small, dutch/indonesian run place i had stumbled across last year. In fact, our trip is planned around these 5 days.
This part of the trip allowed my husband to catch up on his studies while the kids played in the pool and played chess and monopoly in the bales. I managed some interesting walks.
Lovina doesn't hold much attraction for us as a destination: we live by a much nicer beach, with its own dolphins. i hate the constant hassle to buy things. what Lovina had for us was excellent accommodation on a budget and an awesome night market and warm weather (something we don't have at home right now).
However, the good food makes me want to go back; sadly the accommodation is booked out into 2011:
Getting takeaway at the night market and eating it poolside is lots of fun. The food is so much tastier than in the restaurants, and, as a bonus is so cheap. 5,000 rp for nasi campur; the same for 7 sticks of chicken satay. 6,000, i think, for the martabak; 2,ooo for dessert.
As a bonus with the nasi campur, you get to choose what you want.just point to each dish.
The terang bulan was also really good as a dessert.
during the day and at night you can also get es campur for 3,ooo a serve.
I could really go some tempe manis right now!
if you haven't been game to eat at from a market before, i can only encourage you to try it. the vendors rely on selling to the locals, so the food is unlikely to make you ill. we have never been ill from eating at a market or warung, only from restaurants catering to tourists. and es campur, made from shaved ice, is our kids' favorite.
after 5 days we were relaxed and fit, ready for adventure
