G'day Katnip
The travel time really does depend on when you leave.
We always find that leaving Legian at around 8am it only takes just over an hour straight through. Leaving between 8.30 and 9 kicks it out to over an hour and a half.
Your best bet would be to go on a Wednesday if you can and visit the Beringkit Market in Mengwi. It's a great place with a few different things that are not generally found at markets in other areas.
Leaving the Beringkit Market it is about a 15 minute drive to Margarana. This is the memorial for I Gusti Ngurah Rai and many others that lost their lives in the fight for Independance.
Research the story and you may find that a visit here becomes a highlight of your trip.
From Margarana you have the choice of heading back to the main road (about 5ks) or taking the parallel road to the West. That road is our choice as it gives a different outlook to what you will see coming back down the main road.
This road comes out just South of Pacung Indah where a toilet break will probably be inevitable ;-) Photo op's here are wonderful and David and Moira may well be handy for a chat and some tips on things to see.
It is then about 20 miutes to Bedugul (Ceremonies and Roadworks aside) with the Ghost Palace (Villa Hantu) being about halfway between the two.
The bar is located, as already stated, at the back left of the Candi Kuning Markets.
Down the road from the market is the floating temple on the lake and the Botanical Gardens are located up the hill about 1km behind the markets.
Heading down past the floating temple about 4ks on is the Handara Kosaido Golf Course. If you're a golfer it's worth a look. Actually it's worth it even if you're not ;-)
This would pretty much fill up a long day.
If you're planning on going through and staying in Lovina let us know.
There's plenty more to do going down the other side of the mountain.
Hope this helps
