i hate doing the long trip via KL but for the money you save i think it is worth it. We got cheap flights from Bri to Bali with Pac Blue for May of this year, was fantastic going direct. We are going via KL in Oct, already dreading the longer flights, said i would never do it again but you can't go past Gold Coast to KL for $99 each way. Another option which i would do if cheap flights to KL came up again is to go Gold Coast to KL then to Bali but on the return trip go Bali straight to Bris. I hope you get some cheap flights for when you want to go, lots of time to wait for sales.
