I love food. In Bali I will happily eat from a street cart or at an exey restaurant, as long as I get value for money &, most importantly, good food. I hate being ripped off. Hate being served poor food.

This trip I had some great meals, often thanks to Whoopee. We both love Un's - Meredith preferred the concerto (?) pasta & I could not go past my fave fish on a bed of mash with crisp potato scales. Of course we had the frozen margaritas - several. Creme Catalan for desert is superb. The prices are so low that it can be an every-night restaurant.

M recommended Neros. Our shared Mezzo plate was huge & excellent. Definitely on my return list.

In Seminyak Ultimo was superb. Excellent food in classy surroundings. Very reasonable prices. It is very much a Must Do. The lobster & avocado is excellent. The duck ravioli ditto but a tad salty.

Brekky at Ku De Ta was delightful apart from all the pampered pooches being permitted by their expat owners to do #2s right on the beach in front - eeeewww. Stinky poo. We had intended to do a beach walk but no! The set brekky of eggs benedict (or florentine) came with bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes & baked beans as well as juice & a huge fruit plate all for Rp80K. A bargain.

Agungs in Poppies 1 is great & very cheap for every day food.

Our plans for Ubud were dampened by M's most unfortunate accident. But we managed to get to Tropical Bale for the meal of the trip - no words - utterly superb. (BTW I found many of the plaques on the walls in the loo to be offensive & tacky - if you go there & also dislike them then please say so. For me, these extremely tacky & tasteless things detracted from what would have been an almost perfect experience).

Utterly superb food but go there during the day for the view.
