Hi Stormy,
We spent 3 nights recently at Greenfields.
Yes it deserves the praise it gets!
If you have stayed at Tegal Sari then you know the distance to Monkey Forrest Road as G/F is right next door.
The staff are as fantastic as everyone had mentioned and were only too happy to drop up and pick up but I still felt akward asking all the time! Especially in the evenings.
For this reason if I went to Ubud again I would choose a location closer to town.
Also please be aware that the hotel is currently doing new building works!!
This is right next to the pool area which is only screened by a bamboo partition.
The noise is constant from morning until night.
If you plan a quiet relaxing day by the pool then this will not be the location for you!
There were guests complaining bitterly about the noise and some did check out and go elsewhere.
We had Bale Bintang and Bale Cahaya (825 000RP per night) and the noise did not reach these roooms but those down the other end were not happy.
Sad that this happened but the work has to be done sometime I suppose.
We enjoyed our stay and to sum it up: rooms were lovely, outlook to rice paddies fantastic, staff were great, ambiance and social interaction not so good, distance to town a draw back.
Would I stay again? Probably not at this stage.
Cheers Helen.
