Hi Tracey, the hotel itself does laundry but is a little expensive, the best one that we were recommended was across the road and down past the kodak shop, turn left out of Febris, they were charging 20 items for 20,000Rp = $2.54. As for eating depending on what you like, the Febris was really nice food with good size serving but a little expensive and no kids menu, Pantai on the beach, go through Santika when you get to the beach turn left onto the pathway and follow, they have great meal and very reasonable prices, get there before sunset because it a really fantastic spot to watch the sun go down. We also found that the Bali Dynasty was good value if you have children under 12 as their theme night dinners are 130,000Rp per adult = $16.50 but kids under 12 are free, they are 3 course dinners as much as you can eat. Breadtalk up at Centro was also excellent value for snacky kind of meals, we would take a variety of food back and share it. I would definately go for fixed prices shops because there is no hassle and they are so cheap, Diannes, Jennys or any of the little shops just up from the Febris, will do fixed prices, some will try and ask for thousands, just tell them no that you can get from fixed price shop. Our general rule was dont buy in the first couple of days, just get the feel of everything, go to the fixed price shops just down from the Febris opp Kodak shop, get a rough idea for prices to use as a guide, then go for it, also try and get to Geneva handicrafts sooner than later, this place is full of so many bargains, check their website and view their products, you will probably not get it any cheaper than here. Hope this helps. Have a fantastic time.
