We have travelled to Bali for surfing 13 times. Here are some of the breaks that we have been to. We hire a car and drive and by now my husband has the swell direction and wind direction knowledge to be able to find surf no matter what time of year it is.
We go to lembongan- breaks are all coral- Shipwrecks, Lacerations and Playgrounds, all work slightly different depending on the tides. Best time of year April to September, but we have managed good waves in January but depends on the winds. There is also another break on the Island behind Lembongan called Cenigans- good when the wind is getting into the other breaks.
We also stay at Ulluwatu, mostly surf Ulluwatu but occasionally Bingin and Dreamland. Best thing about staying there is you can surf early and late in the day without the crowds, the day trippers generally don't arrive early. Not a good place Dec/jan as the winds are really string.
We stay at Sanur during Nov to January and surf Sanur, Keramas, Jeseri and Nusa Dua.
Have also stayed at Balian- good surf here, much softer wave than the other breaks. And 20 minutes down the road you will find Medewi, a break at the rivermouth, lots of rocks.
Outside of Bali we have travelled to Lombok a few times and surfed Desert Point and the breaks around Kuta/Lombok, Grupuk and Maui are 2 of them.
And we travelled to Sumbawa and surfed Supersucks, Yo Yo's and Scar reef.
And we still want to go to G Land and Lakey peak.
