You say you "booked my flights (which i found on the net)" then why would you need to call a Travel Agent to "book them straight away to lock them in ,as they were a bargain price". You then indicate that now - some three months later - you are being asked to pay for them as they were booked "under a package".
Firstly,if you booked for specials on an Airline's website, you would be obliged to pay for them virtually immediately. A Travel Agent would be unable to take-over this booking. I suspect that they have booked what is known as an IT Fare (Wholesaler Fare associated with accommodation - usually a minimum of 4 nights). The booking you are now being asked to pay would, I am sure, have no relation to the website reservations you made, and which would have disappeared from the Airline's system probably within 24 hours as it was not paid.
I can not comprehend why the Travel Agent did not advise you of this in the first place. However, surely "alarm bells" would have rung for you as you were not required to pay for your "bargain airfares" at the time you asked the Agent to handle your reservation.
If the Agent has booked the IT/Package Fare then you will be obliged under the Fare Regulations imposed by the Airline concerned, to take the required accommodation or forfeit the booking.
