They come in different sizes. Pack all your gear in black plastic bags or line the material bags with them, in case of heavy rain or material bag damage. Once packed tape up with some strong tape once around the middle, tie the handles together to make stronger. Superglue the outside end pockets up, you won't use these anyway and use a lock on the main zip.
Much much lighter and you can fit more in. 2 of the same size in each hand and an over the shoulder one for carry on luggage for the plane.
