Travel agent ?

What does everyone recommend here. Travel agent or use the asia room website for booking hotel rooms.
I have been looking and it seems I can get cheaper rooms using asia room and cheaper flights by using jet star website than using the travel agent. Any suggestions??? dont want to be hit with hidden charges.
