In May Jetstar charged me $US57 for 5kg kilos on our return trip. Unfortunately, I had an accident :-( and was upgraded to Starclass. I tried twice to get my money back and was told it was non refundable which is VERY annoying.
The difference is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Jetstar you can book extra luggage and the seating configuration suits couples as they have two seats together on both sides of the aircraft... their downside is they leave late and arrive at DPS late.
Virgin don't have a Saturday flight and leaves MEL on Sunday at 08:15 arriving DPS at a decent time :-)... however, their seating is 3x3 :-(
