Depending on which part of Ubud you are staying in, there are many outlets but price varies hugely. In Kuta and some shops in Ubud they ask 50,000rp with 5,000rp credits. Ubud Music on Jl Raya sells them for 25,000rp. The shop on the street outside of Bintang supermarket sells them for 15,000rp which is the correct price as far as I can tell. Some outlets sell for as high as 100,000 on the premise that it is a "good" number. I would head to Ubud Music if you are in central Ubud, they also have them pre-registered so it is just a matter of putting it in you non-sim locked phone and you are on line! I have been told that you need to turn the 3G facility on but I am not sure. It is a sms "3G" sent to 3636 which costs nothing so you may as well do it!
