Saturday - feeling a bit sad as we are leaving Ubud. Decide to leave after lunch to have some more time. I woke early and read in the bathroom again (there is a good light in there and I sit on a towel) Went to Café Wayan and got a take away coffee to start the day. Had our breakfast on our verandah - this is the life. Everyone was going to the Ubud markets for last purchases. I didn't feel like it so I strolled along Monkey Forest Rd looking into the shops and bought a couple of things. Before we knew it the morning had gone and we were once again saying goodbye to new friends. Made picked us up and off we went to Sanur Beach Villas. Finally I was going to check out Bloodyron's place. I have wanted to get back to Sanur the past couple of years but hubby wasn't so keen. I am hoping it will be nice. It takes a bit of finding the place as the sign out the front says Mangrove beach sanctuary not Sanur Beach Villas. (Ron did tell me this but I had forgotten). I love this place from first sight of the floating flowers at the entrance. Irma greets us and I ask where Ron is. He is watching cricket at the pub. He didn't know what time we were arriving. I'll call him Irma says. No, no don't bother him its ok - I tell Irma shes probably better than Ron anyway. Our room is adorned with frangipanis everywhere (and I mean everywhere) How did Irma know I am in love with frangipanis? Big open bathroom (so adorable). Tv, dvd plus movies to watch, tea and coffee facilities, in room safe. I love this place. Our rooms all open onto the pool - about 5 steps away. The verandahs are nice and private with all the trees and there is the Tree of Knowledge and the red esky. I take lots of photos. Before long Ron turns up - it seems Irma did call him. We sat down under the tree of knowledge and chatted to Ron and had a swim. Ron recommends a restaurant just down the road and left onto the beach - Café Kesuma. We go there for a late lunch - it has a sand floor and plastic chairs and tables - and delicious fresh cheap seafood. We are loving Sanur already. We decide to go for a little walk along the beach path and then we see pushbikes for hire so we hire one each for 20,000 and start riding.
We ride and ride and ride - it is so interesting with the different resorts (so beautiful), restaurants, shops, people. We have lots of laughs and finally decide to stop. I think we have gone about 5 to 6 kilometres. The sun is going down. We turn around and head back and it quickly gets dark. It's ok when we are near restaurants and lights but there are quite a few dark sections and the girls and I find our sight is not so good in the dark. It takes a lot longer to get back. Right at the end of the beach path where it is pitch black there are two big steps. I am the leader and do not remember or even see the steps. Luckily I rode down them and stayed on my bike. A little painful. Everyone found this very amusing and they all walked their bikes down the steps. We arrived back very tired and sore. None of us are used to riding pushbikes.
Our days in Sanur are spent relaxing, riding scooters once again, trying out restaurants recommended by Ron - we really put the pressure on him to come up with good ones for us as when we tried one on the spur of the moment were disappointed. Ron came up with the goods too I might say. Most mornings I get up and take a walk along the beach. Sanur Beach Villas was a little gem of a haven and we loved every minute of it. Exploring Sanur was fantastic and I even saw an ad for a new 3 bedroom villa for sale with pool for AUD $130,000.00. I told hubby we could buy that!!! Go in with someone else and rent it out - one day spend a few months in Bali (a new dream for our future).
We visited Kintamani and some hot springs - the hot springs was a totally new experience for us in Bali and we were rather impressed with the set up. Lovely crystal clear pools with warm water flowing out of statues. Beautiful meal and welcome drink. Good facilities provided. An experience we will repeat.
We did lots of pampering in Sanur with massages, tried foot reflexology (only 33,000 for 1 hour), hair cream bath, and on our last day a warm stone massage (ahhhhh bliss).
So sad leaving this time - want to visit with Ron and Irma and beautiful Sanur again definitely. We went into the Prada Lounge at the airport - only had about an hour there once we had checked in. We were worried about our weight but shared it around between the five of us and all was ok. Flight home was trouble free - watched a movie which I don't normally bother with. It certainly passed the time. Service was slow on both flights this time Pacific Blue but plane was full so expect that.
I am planning next holiday already although might not be for a while as we have to visit family in New Zealand and Queensland next year but I'm secretly hoping I find flight cheap enough to be too good to pass on at some stage.
