three times with our daughter who has anaphylactic allergies, inparticular to peanuts. She's also asthmatic. We too were worried before her first trip, but now we don't give travelling to Bali with her a second thought - we just make sure we're prepared for a reaction with medication on hand and medical centre/hospital numbers and a mobile phone. We carry antihistamine & 2 epi-pens as well as Redipred and Ventolin. Having said that, we have never had to use any of it in Bali. Some clever people on here may be able to help you with a Bahasa Indonesia sentence that would indicate the seriousness of your son's allergies. We were provided with a similar sentence which explained the need for us to avoid all peanut products, but actually found we never needed to use it, as English is so widely spoken. We have ventured out as far as GitGit, but we are very careful about what our daughter eats when we're away from the more built up areas. Our daughter is always happy to have boiled rice, chips (of course!), etc and we found that taking snack foods from home meant that we always had something on hand if she felt peckish. She may not have the healthies, most balanced diet when we travel, but she sure enjoys it & it keeps her safe! If you do a search using the search engine at the top of the main page you'll find quite a bit of info from various people regarding travelling to Bali with allergic children. Hope this helps a bit, I really do understand your concern & I hope, like us, you can relax 7 really enjoy your holiday. Cheers, Sue.
