I once turned up at Imigrasi in Denpasar to get an exit stamp for my wife, an Indonesian citizen.

While we watched the Imigrasi fellow with the slowness that would shame a sloth went through a pile of files checking each fle against her first name. He then went through all the files again checking against her middle name with equal slowness. Yet again he went through all the files again, checking her last name against each file.

After three hours of watching this "still life", he stamped the exit stamp into her passport.

My wife then apologised to me for making a mistake. Her "mistake" was to wear her jewellery. Seeing the jewellery, the sloth from Imigrasi was hoping for a "pungli" or bribe to speed things up.
