Just back from 17 days, 3 in Ubud rest in Legian. Had a great time only sour note was Air New Zealands refusal to check our (4 adults) bags through to Denpasar. I purchased AKL to Sydney on airpoints. Then travel agent got me a $965 pp return Syd Denpasar on Garuda. Checking in at Auckland told by staff & management I would have to go through immigration, retrieve bags go through customs & rebook in. You try & do that with just over an hour. They point blank refused to check the bags through. Upshot was we had to just arrive at transit desk In Sydney & get boarding passes to Denpasar asking them to send our bags on. 3 days later our bags turned up in Bali. You can imagine we were pretty brassed off, our travel agent said he had never heard of this happening before. Other people on our flight to Sydney were also on our flight to Denpasar & were checked through as they had booked all the way with Air NZ. The joke is when we came home Garuda Check our bags right through to Auckland no problem at all. Sorry about long post, hope it explains our frustration at our so called 'top airline'
