Ask yourself these questions
What would the 13yo do if the 3yo began choaking?
What would the 13yo do if the 3yo developed breathing problems?
What would the 13yo do if the 3yo was scalded?
When I was 11 to 15 I loved to try to cook and do all sorts of things if mum was missing even for 30 mins. Tried making toffee- melted cheese and burnt many a pot (some I just threw into the bin to hide the evidence). I once decided to help her and wash the floor. I poured detergent everywhere and couldn't get rid of all the suds so I bought the hose inside. Not a good afterlook .
What would the 13yo do if you told them not to answer the door and there was a knock
What would the 13yo do if you told them not to answer the door and there was a knock(the place was being evacuated because of a fire) but the 13yo couldn't understand the paniced Indo/English instructions and yelling
What would the 13yo do if there was a long blackout?
What would the 13yo do if the 3yo got out the door and wandered off?
I don't want to be a scare monger but 13 year-olds can still be distracted easily. Just try talking to them when they are watching TV or Texting. Do they respond always? - do they hear your requests or messages?
