After almost a week of bustling Bali it was time to move on.. Lombok here we come - our 2nd time.
FLIGHTS - Flew with Trigana Air. Flights left early on the way over & return - found them very efficent - 48 seater plane.
ACCOMMODATION - Stayed Holiday Resort 5 minutes out of Senggigi in 2 bedroom family apartment. Could have slept 4 people in main bedroom bed, kids single beds like doubles!! Kitchen & living area between bedrooms. Many of the staff remembered us from 3 years earlier. Buffet brekky to die for - everything you possibly imagine!! Really mixed group of people staying though we were the only Aussies!!
GENERAL
Previous trip we had done Gili islands & Mt. Rinjani. This trip we hired a driver for a couple of days. Spoke great english & had plenty of knowledge of Lombok.
First trip we travelled to Kuta & did many villages. Wonderful experience - many villagers in traditional clothing, watched them at work. Did this on a Friday when all the men just stopped & headed to the mosques - amazing!! A great day & learnt heaps!!
Second trip we wanted to snorkel. We decided on Gili Nanggu. Wow!! Driver suggested we leave from Taun, what a beautiful little coastal village it is. Just over 1 hour from Senggigi. Stocked up on food & drinks there, hired a boat and there in 20 minutes. What a place!! Powdery white sand & snorkelling from the beach. So peaceful & beautiful. We saw 4 people the whole day we were there. Variety of fish & living coral amazing!! (don't forget the bread, the fish nearly knock you over trying to get to it). Have done plenty of snorkelling in the past but this was certainly memorable for all of us.
Taxied into Senggigi most nights for dinner. Plenty of cafes. Menus pretty much the same but all have their own atmosphere. A few favorites were Yessy Cafe, the Tent, Angels & Happy Cafe.
Most nights we ended up at Happy Cafe for the live music. Most staff & musos remembered us from last trip!! Met many young Aussies there & had our own little Aussie zone. Our daughter 16 sang with the band - great fun, great people!!
Not much shopping but found plenty to do. Night markets fun, plenty of crafts & pearls. Also bought plenty at Bayan Lombok - fixed price shop with huge range of stuff.
After a week & many tears it was time to leave......
