Not that I would understand how you would feel as I am going back next month with my husband and we will have a wonderful holiday. When I go to bali each year earlier with girls I have an ok time!
I went in 2005 with one girlfriend and it was her first time.
We stayed a few nights in Bali Garden Hotel, 3 or so in Vila Shanti Sanur, 2 or 3 Tegal Sari in Ubud, 2 or 3 in Bali Mystique Seminyak and back to Bali Garden Hotel.
Just 2 of us, another trip we stayed a few nights SuriWathi in Legian, Ubud Village then back to SW.
Maybe look at Lokha, Losari, Casa Padma (depending on your budget) in Legian, or Melasti Beach, Puri Raja, Niksoma, Sari Beach Villas, All Seasons, Mandira, Padma, Legian Beach.
(Its a secret, but I bet you enjoy a fantastic holiday)
