Those terraces at the Kartika sound divine.

Someone else raved about the Santika - so good to get a second opinion.

I know what you mean about the haggling - I'm over it and would prefer to just pay a bit extra, so its a fair deal for both of us, then move on. Its NOT fun when they are asking 90K for something that you have already bought elsewhere for 40K and have told them so. I don't bother anymore at that point and move on quickly - they obviously aren't in need of the business.

Losing your photos can be devastating. I lost alot of brilliant cloud free photos I got of Mt Egmont (NZ) and more, because by shot 29 (on a 27 frame film!) in Wellington, I realised I hadn't wound the film on properly - I literally cried - SO FRUSTRATING. But I've now come to the realisation that most people look at their photos soon after they are taken and then rarely. So I don't stress too much these days when an opportunity is missed.

Your right about taking liquids into the departure gate. Last year I bought some oil from Mataharis that was in a bottle less than 100 mls, but the bottle wasn't marked with its exact measure so I lost it. Now I saw the exact same stuff for sale at one of the shops in the airport. So I presume that I could have bought it at the airport only to have it confiscated at the gate! NOT HAPPY JAN

I think duty free grog is sealed and collected once you are through security.

Gotta say though I would rather be over monitored and feel safe than have a half hearted effort at airport/ airplane security.
