Stay at the Ida, that would be my preference out of the three. Stayed at the Matahari Bungalows in Legian, just up from the Memorial. Found the rooms to be rundown, we even changed rooms but was no better. Grounds are beautiful, pool was hige and many loungers, pool bar, few cracks, broken tiles in pool, kids section. Breakfast was okay for budget, staff were friendly, one in particular was overly friendly and always pushing for tours. Staff at reception not very helpful with faults in rooms. Shower over bath and the hose when clipped to the wall kinked and no water would come out, pressure and heat intermittent. Bathroom not overly clean, air conditioner noisy. Bed okay but sheets didn't seem to fit bed. Could hear a lot of noise from either side of us and above. Moved to deluxe room, paid the extra, this was in the multi storey block, top floor, no lift, balcony very nice, air conditioner dripped all night onto floor, vanity in bedroom, shower over bath and hardly any hot water, depended on time of day you wanted to shower was answer to question why no hot water.
Walked through Nathan this May, very tired looking, no good reports found anyway. Renovations to Bale over pool whilst we wee there, saw no other guests, multi storey building with lift, fits 2 people, very scary. A bit like a Fawlty Towers Hotel, many winding corridors and steps. All rooms appeared to look over pool, no gardens.
Ida have stayed a few times and will return. Many reports mostly good in the archives. Prices have skyrocketed for the deluxe rooms though, they will lose customers.
