We did an elephant ride and white water rafting at the same place was fantastic, Kadek drove us there and got us a good price, cheaper than what they were trying to sell it for. July/August is meant to be the best time, however, Bali is good all year round, just a little wetter from November onwards and Kuta beach is not nice around December onwards, you need to head to other beaches, too much rubbish comes down from Java. Shopping, depends what you want, all the markets are great or go to Geineva for homewares etc, fixed price and the place is so big. Otherwise Denpasar markets are good to. Contact our driver, he is great, will take you to all the best spots and tells you what you should be paying so you don't get ripped off.
