My friends were married in Bali last year and rather than have to take birth certificates and documentation needed, they opted to quietly get married in a registry office at home, nobody knew aobut it, except 2 witnesses (I was one of them) a week before departure.

Then in Bali we had the full works wedding and all family and friends didn't know it was just a ceremonial day and not the formal one - so if you are concerned about making sure all in order, I recommend this alternative, that way you have a recognised wedding certificate from home and a wedding in Bali too.
