In no way is it excusable but maybe she was telling the truth about one thing - her father being in hospital. Maybe, just maybe your money went a long way towards him getting treatment that he would otherwise have had to go without. It would explain BUT NOT EXCUSE her actions. I'm sure many others would have done the same thing if they were in the same situation. Sometimes the temptation is just too great.
IF indeed her father was in hospital, try to take solace in the fact that you have helped more than you will ever know. That might sit a bit better with you and help you to move on. And get those photos up quick smart so that the negative side of the trip doesn't overtake the positive.
