After 10 trips with different groups having done the bike trip, Lembongan Island and Uluwatu 3 times each, travelled to Lovina a couple of times and stayed in Ubud 4 times, for the first time in 19 yrs it was just hubby and I with no plans whatsoever. And as we are not big shoppers (especially with a man in tow!)our days were pretty non eventful.
Having said that I enjoyed bead shopping along Jl Werkudara as I found some great designs and all at cheap fixed prices. Jl Double Six has lots of different clothes too, but you can only wear so much. Hubby got a leather jacket from Tommy's - they REALLY made sure he was VERY happy with it, even though it took 2 fittings and a delivery trip to Tanjung Benoa! My favourite was the shop just north of Bintang supermarket selling Indian soft furnishings, it had some BEAUTIFUL wallhangings/table toppers.
Best eats were Warung Asia (Cheap Thai) on Jl Double Six - its gets VERY busy for a good reason. Lucky Day on Jl Dyana Pura - the chef is intercontinental trained and IT SHOWS. Ketupat (Indonesian) on Jl Legian, Kuta. Then Poppies (for a rijstaffel) had lovely atmosphere but not cheap. And last but not least was the warung on the beach just near the Pelangi Hotel. It had the best Lumpia of the trip amoungst other things, cold beer, cheap prices with the best spot on the beach.
