On my first trip, many trips ago, my better half and I were out for a stroll when we witnessed two yobs playing 'slappsies' with a young Balinese fellow who had approached them to buy those leather friendship braclets. You often see the kids selling these trying to make an honest buck. Rule number one is you never touch a hindhu on the head, (or anyone for that matter.) As we neared them we saw that what was 3 men sitting across the street grow in number to 10+ as we passed the commotion. You could sense the tension brewing and my comment on passing these idiots to 'cut it out' fell on deaf ears. We walked on with a quick pace, 50m up the street we turned back to catch a glimpse of these idiots encircled by the Balinese men. Don't know what happenned next, but I can guess it wasn't civil.
My bahasa guru also told me of a situation where a loudmouth was ignoring a restaurantures plee to calm down. All efforts failing the cook superheated the offenders soup and 'accidently' dropped it in the tourists lap, ending that fellows holiday abruptly.
Nothing in Bali goes un-noticed......
