We stayed in KL in January after a holiday in Bali and our stay at the Melia Hotel was outstanding. Very clean, excellent staff, yummy breakfast. Perfect location, across the road from Times Square Shopping Centre, the one with the theme park inside, and around the corner from Sung Weng Plaza (spell??). Around $90/night.
